Meet HAKO Remote: A Simpler Way to Control Your TV Box
You know what you want to watch. Getting the title into the search box is the slow part. Moving across an on-screen keyboard, selecting one letter at a time, and going back to fix a typo can interrupt an otherwise relaxed evening on the sofa.
HAKO Remote brings a more familiar option to TV box control: your phone. We are developing this companion app to put everyday navigation, text entry, and a choice of control styles together in one place. The idea is simple: make the small actions between you and your TV easier to complete.
HAKO Remote is currently in development and is not yet available for public download.
Settle in, pick up your phone, and navigate
Imagine browsing from the sofa with the phone already beside you. The main remote screen gives you a familiar set of direction buttons, a clear OK button in the center, and a separate Back button. Move through a menu, choose an item, or return to the previous screen without leaving the app.
This layout keeps the most common actions easy to find. You do not need a different way of thinking about TV navigation: up, down, left, right, select, and back still mean what you expect. A longer press also lets you keep a direction held when the task calls for it.

Type with the keyboard you already know
Searching for a long program title is where phone control becomes especially useful. HAKO Remote lets you enter text into supported TV text fields using your phone’s keyboard, so you can type a name or search phrase with the same familiar keys you use for messages.
Picture remembering only part of a film title, then adding another word to narrow your search. Instead of navigating around a keyboard on the television, you can compose the phrase on your phone. Text entry and deletion give you a practical way to enter a query and correct it when needed.
The benefit is a more comfortable division of tasks: the television gives you a large screen to view, while the phone provides a keyboard close at hand. Your attention can stay on choosing what to watch.
Choose the control that fits the moment
Direction buttons are a natural fit for moving between clearly defined menu items. Other interactions suit a pointer. HAKO Remote includes both directional controls and a touchpad mode, allowing you to switch according to what you are doing.
Use the direction pad to move through a TV menu, then switch to the touchpad for pointer movement and taps. Having both approaches within the same app gives you a choice without reaching for another input device.
Keep the connection part of the experience
The app also brings device selection and pairing into the same flow as the controls. The pairing screen below previews how a code-entry step can guide the connection between phone and TV box before you begin navigating.
That first interaction matters. A companion app should help you understand which device you are controlling, as well as what to tap next. Clear connection information belongs alongside the everyday controls.

A better TV experience, one interaction at a time
At H96, our work on TV boxes includes how people use them after they are connected to the television. HAKO Remote reflects our aim to improve that experience through hardware and software working together. Easier searching, familiar controls, and useful input choices are practical places to start.

We welcome conversations with people who want more convenient TV control, and with brands, distributors, and OEM/ODM partners exploring their next TV box product. Tell us how your customers use television and which interactions you would like to make easier.
